Bats are useful to humans in many ways.They perform important ecological roles of pollinating flowers and dispersing fruit seeds. They also feed on insect pests hence in turn greatly reducing the costs related to insect extermination at farms and barns. On the other hand, they are known to be a carrier of various diseases such as rabies, Histoplasmosis, Henipavirus and possible even Ebola Virus. They also carry fleas, mites and bat bugs. Hence it becomes important to be rid of them to prevent encounters between animals/humans and bats. If you have a barn, you will have bats. That’s part of living outside the city.
